Overview

The regional credit markets have been growing rapidly in recent years, and the ability to properly assess and manage credit risk is becoming increasingly difficult and complex under competitive lending environments. Credit processes and assessment standards continue to evolve and stressed loans and default rates in several countries are giving rise to an increasing need to restructure such loans.
There are a number of common fundamental issues faced in all situations where the restructuring of loans in required. The experiences of the Asian currency crisis and the enormous volume of non-performing loans that emerged from it have provided important lessons in the early recognition, control and proactive management of non-performing loans. This workshop will cover all aspects associated with managing problem loans, from early recognition of relevant issues to stabilizing the situation and assessing feasible options, through to implementing required solutions. This interactive course will provide the opportunity to discuss and debate techniques and approaches to workouts, litigation and alternative approaches to handling problematic lending situations.
